Preventing Conflicts Through Intercultural Dialogue – The Example of Azerbaijan

We are living in a critical global context, marked by unprecedented threats to peace and security. The conference will present the tradition of multiculturalism and religious tolerance in Azerbaijan, together with its state policy for fostering intercultural dialogue as a tool for conflict prevention.

Speakers include:

  • Mr. Nijat Mammadli, Director, International Relations Department, The State Committee of Work with Religious Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan
  • Mr. Alexander Mejia, Editor-in-Chief, UN Special magazine
  • Dr. Daniel Pommier Vincelli, Researcher and Adjunct Professor, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy
  • Mr. Lionel Zetter, Director, The European Azerbaijan Society Foundation (TEAS)


The conference is organised within the Geneva Peace Week initiative by TEAS, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN Office and other International Organisations in Geneva, and The State Committee of Work with Religious Organisations of the Republic of Azerbaijan. 

Attendance is free, but registrations must be received before 1 November using the following system:

  2. If you do not have a UN badge you will need to register for a Geneva Peace Week pass to access the Palais des Nations. This pass is valid for the entire week, so if you have already registered for one to attend a different Peace Week event, there will be no need to do it again.
